Reforestation

In 2013, Greenpop supported a local landowner in Wilderness to plant 1000 indigenous trees to reforest and restore an important biodiversity corridor in the area. The trees have been doing very well ever since and currently have around an 80% survival rate. The structure of the forest has begun to change somewhat with many pioneer species dying, providing high nutrient organic matter for the second generation of planted trees to grow.
