In 2015, Greenpop broke ground on the Cape Town Eco-Education Hub – a flagship interactive and practical learning space for the greater Cape Town Community, enhancing environmental literacy and showcasing sustainable living techniques while creating a sense of community pride, connecting people to nature and people to people.

At Greenpop we’re passionate about education and incorporate interactive learning into all of our projects. In addition, we run various skills development workshops for ground staff and teachers from our beneficiary sites and other groups who are keen to learn more about urban agriculture, eco-enterprise and leadership.

Our Eco-Education Hub aims to promote:

i) LEARNING: Improving environmental awareness and the uptake of sustainable living techniques through regular practical workshops, active learning, screenings, talks and weekly opportunities for engagement with the public at large.

ii) CONNECTION: Creating a safe, welcoming and beautiful space for increased positive community interaction with nature and with fellow active citizens of all races, ages, genders and religions.

iii) INNOVATION: Creating a space where sustainable living ideas and innovations can be discussed, created, test-bedded and showcased by community members.

iv) DIVERSITY: Creating a biodiversity and food garden that directly increases the ecosystem services provided to the area, showcasing how this can be achieved at the household level across Cape Town.
